Summer Visits

Well if you don’t believe me, why don’t you come and see it for yourself?

That one sentence was all it took to get Lucky start planning her visit to see Smiles and his unbelievable home. She was confident that he must have found that picture somewhere and just sent it to her to get a good laugh at her. She was pretty gullible after all.  The planning was surprisingly simply and Smiles had insured her on directions how to get to his place and such.

Her parents were both enthusiastic about her visiting a friend but a bit nervous at the mention said friend was a guy. Let alone the male friend she had a tendency of breaking rules with it seemed. Smiles was a ‘bad’ influence, but his sort of kindness out weighed the bad in Lucky’s book. Oats seemed to be looking forward to the trip too, mostly because it meant that he would be able to relax and not have to deliver so many letters over to Smiles. Which reminded her, She wanted to ask Smiles if he had kept in touch with any of the others. Lucky had sent several letters to her friends but she had not received many back. Perhaps they were all just busy? She shook her head, it was pointless to worry about it right now when she had no answers.

It took a while but Lucky managed to make it to their meeting location and there was Smiles. Familiar tall built body, freckled face, braids in hair, and that signature smile. Lucky couldn’t help but smile though her heart was racing with anticipation. It was strange to see him outside of their school, She wondered what differences there would be from the Smiles at school to the Smiles at home would be.

“Good to see you, Smiles. Ahm…This is… some place you got.”

It was amazing actually. Just as shown in the picture. She was still in disbelief  that this was where Smiles lived. Seriously…how does one live in a place like this? Oh…right…Magic. Smiles and his family was magical, unlike Lucky’s small muggle family.

Smiles was not left waiting long as with a slight poof Lucky appeared before him. He beamed down at her, instantly crossing the space between them and enveloping her in a hug that lifted her feet a few inches off the ground.

“Good ta see you too, lass!” he said, putting her down and taking her bags in hand. “Some place, hah? What’d I tell ya? Just like the snap I sent ya!” Her reaction was just as he’d hoped it would be. Even wizarding families were surprised at the McVine house. Technically, most of the area belonged to Smiles’ family or extended family. A little ways from the beach they stood at was his mother herb garden, and not a mile over the nearest hill was Smiles’ grandparents house, and his aunts and uncles close to that.  Of all of them, Smiles’ house was still by far the most unique.

Putting Lucky’s bags in the boat, Smiles held the little craft steady against the beach and gestured for Lucky to climb in.

“The portkey give you any trouble?” he asked. “Me, I always get sick after travelling by portkey.”

“Y-yeah! I was positive you were pulling my leg when you sent me the …er, ‘snap’.” Lucky should use this time here to learn more about Smiles and his family. Perhaps she would learn something of use? Well either way, this was an experience new to her.

Lucky shook her head at the question about portkey, “No, I’m fine. I mean, It was a bit startling, and I’m never going to get used to it..But I feel fine.” Shrugs and smiles at the small mention of Smiles feeling sick after traveling by portkey, “I’m sure you’re not the only one…Oh!”

The smaller girl looked around for a moment and whispered, “Hey… do you’re parents know about my parents being..you know….?” Lucky always felt a bit worried meeting Slytherins, but it was another to meet the parents of one to Lucky, she felt like she had something to prove? Well, it didn’t matter right? Smiles and Lucky were ‘friends’ as odd as it was to say. Not sure when it became normal to say Smiles was a friend, but sometime back at school it just did.

ooc; OMG

I firmly believe that the reason many Slytherins were easily convinced to join Voldemort was because they were treated like shit by the rest of the houses while they were growing up. Imagine spending seven of the most important years of your life being told that you were part of the bad house and therefore bad yourself. Everyone boos your quidditch team. All the houses will hang out with everyone except you. You grow up being hated by your fellow students and many of your teachers.
Now imagine someone comes along and tells you that you’re not worthless and bad. That you’re invited to join a family where you will right the wrongs committed against you. You have the opportunity to be wanted and powerful instead of a hated outcast. Several of your former classmates are telling you how great it is. How you’re welcomed and needed. These are the kids you grew up with. The classmates who went through all the same things you did. Being a Death Eater sounds pretty good now.

I’ve been waiting for a post like this.

THIS.

BLESS THIS POST

!!!!
thank

I was always bothered by the scene at the end of book 7, when the students are asked whether they want to fight the incoming Death Eater army. The Slytherin students are all like, “Uh. No?” And they’re treated like terrorists for it. In the movie, they’re even locked in the school dungeons while everyone cheers.
Did nobody stop to think and realize that if the Sytherin students had stood and fought, they would have been facing their own parents on a battlefield? Even if some of them weren’t really on board with the whole Death Eater thing, expecting them to fight was just cruel. They were children. The oldest of them were seventeen. Babies. And their own professors were asking them to shoot illegal killing spells at Mum and Dad.
Imagine you are a Slytherin and you are staying behind to defend your school and maybe restore some honor to your House. The other students are all giving you mistrustful glares. You know they’re waiting for you to start hitting them in the back with stunning spells. You consider doing it, too, because you’re already starting to regret the choice you made.
Then the battle begins, and you are up against a crowd of strangers who aren’t strangers at all. You recognize voices, muffled behind masks but still piercingly familiar. Your uncle. Your cousin. Your best friend’s big sister.
And then you see a tall man in expensive grey robes. A moment later you notice the small, curvy woman next to him, wand ready. They are guarding each others backs.
You recognize their shoes.

THANK YOU.

“Pff, put that away, its body must still be moving somewhere and perhaps it knows where its hand is,” Brooke said with a raised eyebrow. It wasn’t like she didn’t enjoy clubbing zombies to death and all, she had recently acquired a uniform buttondown that was still kind of intact that she could wear over her gym clothes, so she was just dandy. She had found Donoven when she was running around, looking for friends just after having raided the kitchen for some stuff. Her bag was a little heavy so she had dropped it as she had rescued Seth. Picking it back up she looked at Donoven and the lovebirds behind him.
“Have you guys even thought about gathering any supplies? If this apocalypse lasts longer than a few days we need food and water and I doubt there is enough in here for four of us. Not to mention you eat like tripple your own body weight if you can, Dono.”
Brooke wouldn’t even be surprised if the boys hadn’t thought of what to eat yet. Donoven was clearly too busy with enjoying himself while Seth had probably been so worried over Noah he was near insanity. As for Noah… Well he probably could have thought about it but who knows.
Grabbing Donoven by the collar of his shirt she kissed him before raising her eyebrows again.
“Now I have not seen one Zombie movie in my life. Should we keep moving or retreat to the kitchen that was relatively clean when I left it?”

“Have you even seen a zombie movie?” he scoffed. “This isn’t some like… radar system for the zombies.” Rolling his eyes he tossed the zombie arm over his shoulder anyway. “You ruin all my damn fun, woman.”
And then she started nagging about food and supplies, and he just started saying, “Blah blah blah,” over her. “Look, why can’t you look at this for as it is? It’s awesome! We get to cave in skulls and have a great time. Why are you ruining it with all this?” But he was hungry. He’d been killing zombies and hadn’t had any food for a while. Patting his stomach lightly he frowned. “Okay, fine. I’m hungry.”
Suddenly he was pulled into the kiss, a surprise blink followed by him properly kissing her. He pulled her closer, lifting her up slightly as he kissed her. After a bit when she pulled away to talk he put his hands on her ass.
“It really depends on what movie you’re looking at.” He turned over and looked between Noah and Seth. “And Seth, you gotta be extra careful.”
Seth raised an eyebrow, his hands linked with Noah’s. “Why is that?”
“You’re our token black guy. That means you’re gonna die first.”
“Donoven. I am not black.”
“Yeah, I know, but you’re the closest thing we got and I’m not okay with you dying.” No, in fact he’d grown quite fond of the man. And the thought of him dying was not acceptable at all. “Come on. Let’s go get food and figure out what to do then. The more competent survivors we have, the better. We also need some long range weapons because those are what make the difference in a zombie fight.”
